Function Tables

Our goal is to create a table to compare two functions in a split screen mode, and a single screen mode.

Example:
For this discussion, we will be examining two functions:
y = (x - 2)2     and    y = x + 1


 

SPLIT SCREEN MODE


To create a TABLE:
Press #7 Table, #1 Split-screen Table

Hit

Shortcut: -T

The TABLE will appear in split screen
so you can observe the graph and the table together.
Use up/down/left/right arrows on the Touchpad to move within the TABLE.

Use CTRL-TAB to move between graph and table.

A blue line will surround the section of the screen in which you are residing.

 


The table columns can be re-sized to some degree.


To control the TABLE SETUP:
From within the TABLE,
press #2 Table, #5 Edit Table Settings.
Hit .

You can now control what will be seen in the TABLE.
Use to move within this screen.

Enter a START value.
You will be able to scroll above and below the starting value.

Enter an INCREMENT (STEP) within the TABLE.

 




SINGLE FULL SCREEN MODE


After you have created a split-screen Table, you can force the Table to be placed in single full screen mode by pressing and then the key "6".

Full screen: - 6

This will force the table into its own "document" page, and also the graph into its own "document" page.

Notice the document tabs at the top of the pages.
We now have documents 1.1 and 1.2.

 


The table columns can be re-sized to some degree.

To Remove a Split-Screen Table:

• Press - Z (undo) to remove a split-screen table.

Here are some other options:

• If you want to remove a split-screen table, but not lose the table, you can simply force it into a full screen document.    - 6 which will also leave you with a full screen graph.


• If you move on, do other things, and THEN want to go back and remove a table, you can...

1. Position yourself in the table window.
Remember to use - to move between multiple windows on the screen.

2. Press -K to select that window (the edge of the window will be blue)

3. Press Clear (above the Delete key) to remove the table from its window.

4. You will return to a full screen graph.
